Amazon’s newly announced employee bonus program has the potential to raise $20 million to fund future investments, according to the company.
The company said in a statement Wednesday that the $20,000 bonus was made possible by the hiring of former Amazon VP of human resources Karen Stokowski.
“I was inspired by Karen’s incredible leadership and passion for the Amazon community and was honored to receive the opportunity to work alongside her,” Stokowsky said in the statement.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos also took to Twitter to announce the new bonus.
“As a founding Amazon employee, Karen was instrumental in building our global workforce,” Bezos said.
“It was an honor to be able to support her in her new role.”
Amazon also announced on Wednesday that it will offer $20 bonuses to new employees.
“Today we are announcing a $20k bonus to all employees who join the company in 2019,” the company said.
The bonuses will be in addition to the $25,000 that Bezos promised employees who signed up for the program.
Amazon said it plans to offer additional bonuses to its employees who work in the Amazon cloud and cloud-related services.
